Parallel to Folsom Europe 2018, Schwules Museum Berlin will exhibit the winning pictures and other nominated pictures of the MOREPIXX International Gay Fetish Photo Competition. The show will run parallel to the BDSM exhibition Proudly Perverted which opens the same week, on Wednesday, 5 September (curated by Dr. Birga U. Meyer).
Last fall, photographers from all over the world were asked to submit their gay fetish photos. An international jury (which included a member of Schwules Museum) selected 14 pictures. In January of this year, online voters could choose their top three favourites from these 14 pictures.
During Leatherpride Antwerp the winners were announced, and all of the 14 nominated photos were displayed.
The prizes went to Matt Spike (First Prize for Lady and Leathermen in Subway), Ryan Coit (Second Prize for Man with Dogmask), and Max Samauth (Third Prize for Leatherman with Cigar and Slave).
Further nominations include Alain Bearinz, Pawel Spychalski, Christopher Ferreria, Wild van Heart, Arjan Spannenburg, Gabriel Batenburg, Emile Languh, and Tim Kalsow.
All the prize money was raised by sponsors from the fetish scene, such as Mister B, Rob Amsterdam, R&C Berlin, XXXleather, Gear Berlin, Flor Artes Antwerp, Regulations London, Blackbody and Underground.
All photos are printed on aluminium and show different gay fetish scenes such as bondage, dog play, uniform, leather and rubber. One of the photographers, Matt Spike from London, won with his picture both 1st prize as the Sly Hands Memorial Award.
Opening reception is on Friday, 7 September, at 3 pm. Free entry between 3 and 4 pm.
The photos are on display until Monday, 10 September.
