On occasion of the museum´s move, artistic photographies of the changing of Schwules Museum itself will be on view. Schwules Museum has asked Johanna Jaeger – an artist working in New York, Tobias Wille – a Berlin architecture photographer and the Berlin-based artist cooperative Benten Clay to reflect on the move photographically.
The Artist Johanna Jaeger (*1985) studied in Berlin, Monpelier, Moscow and New York, which is where the graduate of the Universität der Künste in Berlin currently lives and works. Her works, predominantly photography and installations, have been shown in numerous international group exhibitions.
Tobias Wille (*1971) studied architecture at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and works today as a freelance architecture photographer in Berlin. He is a member of the Deutschen Werkbund Berlin e.V. and was nominated for the German Federal Design Prize in 2010, for a photo-installation he created with the architects of londesign.
Benten Clay is a female artists cooperation consisting of the photographers Vera Hofmann (*1979) and Sabine Schründer (*1973), who live and work in Berlin. For the exhibition Update*- Artistic Photographs, Benten Clay has produced a comprehensive tableau with staged portraits of all the staff at the Schwules Museum. Aspects such as change, cyle and transformation are rendered for experience in this complex series of portraits.
