Our Object of the Month in May is a Time Magazine edition from 31 August, 1970, featuring Kate Millett on the cover. Her ground breaking book Sexual Politics had come out a little earlier that year, it’s a radical critique of the ideology of the patriarchy. It became an international bestseller and the bible for a whole generation of feminists.
Millett died in Paris in 2017, she was there with her partner, photographer Sophie Keir, to celebrate her 83rd birthday. Millett was not just a prominent author and activist, she was also an artist. One of her works – from our own archive – is included in the exhibition LESBIAN VISIONS.
