Schwules Museum reopens on May 13

5. May 2020

We are happy to be able to re-open Schwules Museum on 13 May and present the collections while taking all precautions to ensure the health and well-being of visitors.

The museum and a section of the shop will open. In line with guidelines and recommendations of the federal government and the Berlin state, the archive, library and the café will remain closed for the time being,  and we cannot yet conduct guided tours and workshops.

For mutual respect and courtesy please observe the following protective measures: Tickets must be booked online (available from 12 May) or by phone (hotline open from 11 May). Cashless payments at the shop, please. We request you keep a minimum distance of 1.5m from other visitors and wear a face mask.

A maximum of 20 visitors are admissible at any time. Tickets are therefore valid for a particular time frame. We are also extending opening-times, Thursdays to Saturdays, 2pm to 8pm. The smallest exhibition space, showing “Amos Badertscher: The Souls Around Us”, can hold a maximum of 2 persons only at any one time.

We are supplying hand sanitisers and masks at reception. There’ll be friendly written reminders to respect distancing as well as floor markings and perspex shielding for our staff at reception. Exhibits are arranged in line with distancing recommendations.

Seeing exhibits may be enhanced digitally by smart phone using QR code. When using stationary video and audio guides hand sanitising facilities are provided. There are also explanatory paper handouts on loan for anyone preferring not to use digital smartphone guides. We hold handouts long enough to be non-infectious prior to re-issuing.
