Vernissage: Photography as a Way of Life – Rüdiger Trautsch, 50 years of pictures

15. June 2023 19:00

Join us to celebrate the opening of the exhibition Photography as a Way of Life, with which the Schwules Museum honors one of the most important chroniclers of the gay and later queer movement in Germany.

In a show of the work of the photographer Rüdiger Trautsch, who died in the fall of 2021 and whose estate is mostly in the archive of the Schwules Museum, focal points of his work from five decades will be exhibited. For the photographer, the camera was more than a mere apparatus. He viewed it much more as device for making contact with people. In Rüdiger Trautsch’s life, photography became not only a cultural practice, but also a social one: taking pictures to make friends.

We are looking forward to celebrating the opening with friends, acquaintances and all those interested. The event takes place in German spoken language and German Sign Language. Free admission.
