Finissage RAINBOW ARCADE

13. May 2019 19:00

Discussion

Over the past 6 months RAINBOW ARCADE has highlighted the queer history of video games. The exhibition featured a variety of exhibits from over 30 years of media history, including 12 playable titles, concept drawings, modifications written by fans themselves, and documentation of online communities. RAINBOW ARCADE takes a pop cultural inventory of questions of representation, stereotypical and discriminatory narratives in entertainment media and our cultural memory. For the first time, exhibits from the LGBTQ Game Archive were presented to the public.

Finally we talk to Ryan Best, the developer of GayBlade, a 1992 role-playing game and one of the first entries in the RAINBOW ARCADE timeline.
