How do you keep love hidden in times of oppression? In the exhibition “Strategies of Resilience – Insights into the Life of Eberhardt Brucks”, curator neo seefried enters into a dialog with you about the love letters on display. These letters from Eberhardt and his lover Zdena Benek from the 1940s and from Hansi, his long-term partner, from the 1950s show us gay love in secret. In times when homosexuality was persecuted and forbidden, these couples developed strategies to maintain their relationships despite the danger. We immerse ourselves in the world of these letters, which tell of both secret love and inner conflicts – and ask ourselves what love in secret meant then and now.

The event will be held in spoken German. Registration is not necessary. Participation is free, you only have to pay for admission to the SMU itself.
