Artist Talk: Elmgreen & Dragset

23. April 2017 17:00

Elmgreen & Dragset (Michael Elmgreen (b. 1961, Copenhagen, Denmark) and Ingar Dragset (b. 1969, Trondheim, Norway)) are based in Berlin and have worked together as an artist duo since 1995. As part of the events programme in conjunction with the exhibition ğ – queer forms migrate at Schwules Museum*, the artist duo will give a talk about their ongoing engagement with queer themes in their artistic practice. They will discuss artworks, exhibitions and public projects spanning the past two decades and will elaborate on their experience exhibiting these works in different countries around the world. Elmgreen & Dragset will show how they have dealt with queer issues in many of their works, ranging from a “Lust Haus” installed in a gay cruising park  to their inclusion of male performers in staged installations at the 2009 Venice Biennale or at the 2011 Singapore Biennial. Elmgreen & Dragset will elaborate on their personal and professional history and how it has shaped their queer reality, as well what they see as a fluid perception of identity today.
