The curators and artists open the exhibition Encantadas with a one-day mini-festival. In the new exhibitions, Porca Flor tattoos the winners of our raffle, Aoruaura performs APOPTOSE and filmmakers Libra and Xan Marçall talk about their film SOB A TERRA DO ENCOBERTO in a Q&A.

4:30-5:30 PM: Performance by Aoruaura: APOPTOSE – what happened is still forming

Aoruaura is the platform and artistic work of Oura Aura, born on 03/03, 1997. With practices in performance and Visual Arts, the artist creates in conditions of chaos a new possible body-image of affection, using the image and the body as moldable matter, from inanimate objects to dead animals. Starting from the reflection of the body and moved by the non-identification with the image itself, in a virtual gallery she shares situations in which she tests her own nature. In works like “Indução ao processo de autodesconhecimento 00001” (Induction to the process of self-unknowledge 00001) and “Tentativas de retorno” (Attempts to return), the artist relates her complexity to the multi-complex composition of the earth.
“Apoptose” (Apoptosis) is a form of self-programmed cell death, or “conscious cell suicide”. A mechanism that allows differentiation towards the creation of a living body. Having the body and clay as relatable materials, Aoruaura puts the body in relation with the landscape to rehearse a possible movement of cell death. Investigating the states. Inventing, from the attempt, a body that lives again.

7-8 PM: Filmscreening of SOB A TERRA DO ENCOBERTO (BENEATH THE LAND OF THE CONCEALED)

This is an experimental audiovisual work elaborated through audiovisual multi-narratives focused on the conflict between documentary and fiction. SOB A TERRA DO ENCOBERTO presents cosmic visions shaped by Afro-indigenous insurgent imaginaries, through the history, mystery, poetics and enchantment that are present in the experiences of seven trans and Travesti persons originally from the North and the Northeast of Brazil.
