Putikino kicks off on 20.7 at 9pm at b-ware Ladenkino, with an opening screening moderated by the fabulous L’aDios.

The With Legs Wide Open exhibition at the Schwules Museum in Berlin and the La Sur Real Film Festival are collaborating to produce Putikino, a series of sex work film screenings starting this July at b-ware Ladenkino. Throughout the history of cinema, sex workers have often been objects of the lens, resulting in representations that are sensationalizing and stigmatizing. This summer, the whores seize the means of representation!

In the frame of “Nothing about us without us!,” Putikino prioritizes works made with and by sex workers. Films that diverge from the usual one-dimensional portrayals of sex work and on intersectional whore-stories. La Sur Real is a film festival dedicated to screen short films that propose a decolonial reading of territories and bodies, claiming their emancipatory knowledge, questioning patriarchal white supremacy, and sharing contexts that dismantle Western normative prescriptions. We are committed to subverting dominant cinematic narratives, thereby promoting a diverse array of stories that confront and critique deeply ingrained stereotypes.

On July 20, the kick-off screening of Putikino will take place at b-ware!ladenkino, hosted by the great L’aDios. Seven very different short films have been selected, variety is guaranteed. A whore’s ride through cinema!
