“To Revolutionary Type Love” – An Artist Talk with Queer Nairobi Artists

“To Revolutionary Type Love” is the name of an exhibition and a project celebrating queer love in Kenya and beyond. Artist Kawira Mwirichia works with the traditional cotton cloth of East Africa, the kanga, using symbols unique to the triumphs and stories of the queer movements and quotes collected from Kenya’s community. She invited six photographers to share their interpretations of queer love and lives through various genres.

Photographers Faith Wanjala and Malcolm Muga will join her in presenting the exhibition in Germany and to discuss their experiences, political and artistic strategies.

The exhibition is on display 13.-21.6.2018 HBK Braunschweig and 30.6.-30.9.2018 Iwalewahaus Bayreuth.
