TVWOW – RENTING BERLIN. Queer. Anti-capitalist. RealityTV.

22. August 2024 19:30

So are you a fan of reality TV, but also often annoyed by the reproduction of a sexist, racist, heteronormative society in capitalism that takes place there? Then you’ve come to the right place!

TVWOW is your streaming platform with originals and exclusives – free and without registration! Immerse yourself in a new experience with more queerness, shows without market logic and much more. Without commercial breaks, of course.

After the Netflix hit series SELLING SUNSET comes the TVWOW original RENTING BERLIN! The two O-Group estate agents Bev and Terry set off for Berlin to open up a new market. They quickly realize that the demand is huge and desperate, while the supply is extremely poor and shitty. Fortunately, they meet the rich real estate heiress Amantha – who arranges some dubious deals for them. In the end, they have to decide whether to play the nasty game or opt for humanity.

We are showing the four-part web series at the Schwules Museum and inviting you to a Q&A with the makers afterwards: what about the critical potential of reality TV? How ‘real’ is Renting Berlin? Are femmes saving the Berlin housing market?

Moderated by Maya Zaheer. Maya (she/her) is passionate about watching reality TV and discussing the political in pop culture. She studies visual communication at the berlin weißensee school of art. She also works as a journalist and graphic designer.

Screening OMEU and discussion in German spoken language on 22.8. at 19:30 at the Schwules Museum. Admission: from 19:00, 4 euros.
