Where The Heart Feels Safe: Workshop on Queer Art

10. October 2025 13:00

In this workshop, Casey and Dania will talk with participants about queer belonging, safety, friendship, and loss. The workshop will be based on artistic works from the exhibition “A Heart that Beats – Queer Ukrainian Art in Focus” and the short film “Queer Fighters of Ukraine” by Alex King and Angelika Ustymenko, which tells the story of queer people in Ukraine during the war. The workshop will explore the question of what safety means for queer people: in our friendships, chosen families, in public, and in the search for a home across borders. In addition to inspiration from works of art, there will be time for creative reflection: in drawings or short texts.

This workshop deals with the topics of war, loss, homophobia, transphobia, and racism. We ask all participants to be mindful of their own psychological limits and those of others. Together, we want to create a space that feels as safe as possible for all of us to exchange ideas and support each other. We cannot offer counseling or psychological care.

The workshop will be held in spoken English.
For 12 participants of all genders and sexual orientations up to the age of 28.
