We Are Looking For Sex Worker Artists

Objects of Desire is a collaborative project led by sex workers. Through archiving and exhibiting donated objects, Objects of Desire aims to preserve stories and challenge stereotypes about sex work. Objects in the archive range from a lucky set of underwear, to gifts of jam from a client, to a bike used to cycle in high heels to every booking.

We are preparing an exhibition at Schwules Museum from March to June 2019 and are looking for sex workers who are also artists to create artworks of any medium (i.e. installation, photography, performance, music, workshop, etc.) The artworks will be exhibited alongside objects from the archive.

The artwork should respond either directly to objects in the archive, or more broadly to the focus of the project on physical objects and sex work.  More information on the stories and objects that will feature in the exhibition can be found at www.projectofdesire.co.uk:

HOW TO APPLY
Short bio about yourself (50-100 words)
A description of your proposed artwork (500-750 words)
Images (optional)

TERMS & CONDITIONS
The renumeration will be €500
You must be a sex worker
You must have your own space to create the artwork
You must be available in Berlin to install the artwork (with the assistance of our team) at the end of February 2019, and to de-install at the beginning of June 2019
Travel, production cost & all other expenses come under the renumeration
It will be clear in the exhibition that the artworks are created by sex workers. You must either be comfortable being public about your identity as a sex worker, or able to work under a pseudonym

The artworks created will also be added to the archive of Objects of Desire.
