Gülây Akın is born in Kreuzberg. Her daily life and autobiographical memories of her childhood and youth in Kreuzberg are interwoven in her texts. The Frida character, the main protagonist in Akın’s stories, is the daughter of first generation Turkish laborers. Currently, Akın is working with the filmmaker and director Mıraz Bezar (i.a. Min Dît) on the filming of her script “FRIDA!”.
