In the exhibition DREAM WITHIN A DREAM, Dragan Šimičević shows three photographic series thematizing the search for the divine in human form from three different points of view. He portrays the queer Berlin nightlife, presents an erotic relationship between a designer and his work and emphasizes in the third series the divine forces “Sephirot”.

The 10 Sephirot frequently depicted diagrammatically in the “Tree of Life” are divine forces which pervade every level of being. This “Tree of Life” represents the embodied organism of the universe. Dragan Šimičević went in search of his Sephirot and found them in different people and moments. In ten black-and-white photographs and a video installation, “Sephirot” shows  Šimičević’s personal journey into the origins of creation in everyday life.

Dragan Šimičević was born in Sarajevo in 1981 and grew up in Croatia. After studying Psychology at the Freie Universität Berlin, he began his career as a photographer and visual artist. His works portray expressive personalities, with a focus on mysticism and everyday life, life and death, loneliness and love.
